I have suffered from lower back pain for many years, which a long course of NHS physio made absolutely no impact on at all. James, however, taught me a series of simple Pilates exercises that I was easily able to do at home.  And the results have been miraculous – I have been mainly pain-free ever since. James’s teaching was done during lockdown, online. His teaching manner is simple, clear and exceptionally calm, which made memorising the exercises really straightforward. He’s made a massive difference to my quality of life, I can’t thank him enough.

I love these sessions, which make me more aware of how my muscle and frame interact with each other. They also exercise parts of the body I take for granted, such as the jaw and the muscles around the ribs. I invariably feel very relaxed afterwards.

Working with James has given me so much greater awareness of the tension held in my body and a toolkit to release it. I feel more fluid and flexible in general. I've practised Pilates for many years, building core strength to protect my body from the demands of sport and a sedentary job. But the Awareness Through Movement techniques have improved the dialogue between my nervous system and the body.

James' approach is calm, thoughtful and extremely articulate.  He has a wonderful ability to describe the movements so that you can close your eyes and focus entirely on your body's reaction to the exercise.

I would recommend James to anyone wanting to release tension, prevent injury and increase their own awareness of their body. We are our bodies!
